South African National Defence Force Can’t Afford Fuel

The SANDF owes suppliers R26 million on its fuel bill, and as a result they can’t afford to buy anymore, so the SANDF is experiencing fuel shortages at its facilities countrywide.

“Operations already affected were the patrolling of the borders with Zimbabwe and Mozambique. The Department of Defence had asked the Treasury to intervene,” reports Business Day.

Treasury will be intervening on so many levels and at so many parastatals in coming years, which is going to cost the taxpayer billions, with a capital B.
