And people wonder why anti-American sentiment in the Middle East grows stronger with each passing day.
An American soldier, on March 10/11, 2011, in the middle of the night left his ‘base’, walked into the neighbouring villages of Najib Yan and Alokozai in Kandahar’s Panjwayi district, and shot dead nine children and four women, while they were sleeping. Five others were wounded.
He then went back to his base and turned himself in.
“The soldier killed four of my family members including my wife, sisters and a baby nephew,” Habibullah Khan said by telephone. “I was out of the district in the city of Kandahar, but when I came back I saw blood and all four people had been killed in their beds,” reports Bloomberg.
The murderer is 38 years old and is married with two children, ABC News said, citing a U.S. official. He was on his first tour of duty in Afghanistan after three tours in Iraq, according to the report on ABC’s website.
Of course, this will only fuel the recruitment drive for the Taliban, who are taking a stand against foreign insurgents in their country.
“The so-called American peace keepers have once again quenched their thirst with the blood of innocent Afghan civilians in Kandahar province,” the Taliban said in a statement posted on a website, according to the Associated Press.
What would you do if the American army occupied your town, village, or city, and one of the soldiers murdered your wife and children in the middle of the night?
