Here Come the Lonmin Job Losses

On September 17, 2012, in Uncategorized, by Chris Becker

“The company has today, Monday, given notice to terminate its contract with Murray & Roberts, the contractor which supplies approximately 1200 staff at the K4 shaft with effect from 17 October 2012,” reports Moneyweb.

The steep output declines following the recent and ongoing strike action are resulting in reduced revenue for the mine and as a result spending must be cut. The strikers might not be the ones losing their jobs yet, but their peers working for Murray and Roberts will be out of work.
