Reputations in a Competitive Market

A libertarian friend writes:

Got a plea for mercy today from a supplier who did me in in April. I said I’ll think about it. I then thought about it and decided they should go fly a kite. Slow poisoning will continue for as long as the pain they caused me remains. Karma’s a bitch when you’re a schmuck. And my karma bag is not even half empty yet. We don’t need quality standard laws, minimum specification regulations or consumer protection acts. Good old reputations in a competitive market are more than enough.

Hear hear!
