Well This Isn’t a Surprise

Government will miss its target to create 5 million jobs by 2020, reports Business Day.

Economic Development Deputy Minister Hlengiwe Mkhize blames the strained relationship between the state and big business. Someone remind him that the state takes nearly 40% of these ‘cynical’ big businesses’ profits to spend on their pet and crony jobs projects.

If that’s not enough cooperation does he suggest government extracts more taxes out of business, but also starts telling them how they must employ factors of production and invest? The response to Amplats suggests the state will definitely do more of the latter in the future.
